2019 Maserati Ghibli Luxury Sedan

Although Ghibli (said gib-lee) is hard to pronounce, it’s a fitting title for Maserati’s midsize luxury sedan. The name, which comes from an African desert wind, has been applied to the race-bred Italian car since 1966. Both the moniker and its renowned elegance live on in the 2019 Maserati Ghibli.

2019 Maserati Ghibli

For 2019, the Maserati Ghibli is available in three trim levels including S, S Q4 and Grand Sport. The latest model receives a few upgrades: new exterior colors, alloy wheels and a redesigned gearshift lever. Now, there’s also available full-grain Pieno Fiore natural leather. Otherwise, the car is essentially the same, elegant five-passenger sedan from the previous year.

There’s every other vehicle on the road – and then there’s the 2019 Maserati Ghibli. To call the sedan Unique would be an understatement; each part of its design has been handcrafted to stand out from the crowd. Certainly, the focal point is the large front grille with ‘shark nose’ profile. But every inch of the car – from the triple side air vents to the large diameter wheels – is eye-catching.

The spacious cabin is equally as sumptuous. Three upholstery choices are available inside: perforated leather, Pieno Fiore leather or Zegna silk. Occupants also enjoy hand-stitched details, along with carbon fiber trim or Rovere wood veneer trim.

Life inside the Ghibli is ultra-convenient, too, thanks to the hands-free power trunk, soft-close doors and power-adjustable foot pedals. A power-adjustable rear sunblind is also included; perfect for passengers (or pets) wanting to take a snooze.

The sophisticated Ghibli conceals a half-century of racing development under the hood. Performance comes from a Ferrari-built, twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 (345 hp, 369 lb.-ft.) paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard and Q4 Intelligent all-wheel drive is available on the S Q4 model.

Naturally, the Ghibli offers additional go-fast goodies, such as limited a slip differential. The driver can also choose from three different drive modes: Normal, Sport, Off-Road and I.C.E. (Increased Control & Efficiency).

Underpinning it all is the Skyhook performance suspension. The system, available on GranSport models, features electronic dampening control for improved handling.

As one would expect, a sophisticated car such as the Maserati Ghibli is well-endowed with amenities. The lineup starts with the Maserati Touch Control Plus touchscreen display with rotary control. Of course, the system includes integrated Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as SiriusXM. Everyone inside the cabin will also enjoy the available Bowers & Wilkins Ultra Premium Audio System.

The Maserati Ghibli makes safety effortless with a full driver assistance suite. Highlights include Highway Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist and Forward Collision Warning. Plus, there’s Adaptive Cruise Control, a 360-degree surround view camera and traffic sign recognition.
